The Potatoes Have Eyes
My mother’s Christmas card from 2004 depicts a photograph of two potatoes: one large, one small. In the picture, they are sprouting, standing upright, their tentacles wrapping around each other as if they are in an embrace. It is difficult to discern whether the potatoes are Yukon Gold or red, but the photo was almost certainly taken in afternoon, which you can tell because the tubers cast long shadows on the stucco surface upon which they rest.
